I’m thinking we should have some sort of “adopt-a-stranded-ash-traveler” thing going on…

Re:Need a New UI Tool
Not to take away from your answer, but OP was j/k. He was saying “it’s 1996″.
As for XUL… well, there’s another semantically-bloated language.
Oh, and in XUL’s case: “it’s 1999″.

Re:Doesn’t account for all the wording
Removing a battery bay and the connectors is complexity reduction, and cost reduction. Note I did not say retail price reduction.
Regardless, it is easy to sell consumers on this one: Joe and Jane Average hate batteries, hate swapping them, hate having them pop out on them… and are more than willing to “outsource” the issue to Apple.

Re:Doesn’t account for all the wording
Whatever. Apple’s design decision was made to reduce cost and complexity. Complexity-reduction is Apple’s raison d’etre. Don’t hate the player…

Interlude
So, I apologize.
I apologize for being untrue to myself and slavishly pushing myself into a side of life which I never need have seen and which only negated my true personality and talents.
I apologize to anyone I’ve offended with my hasty or curt behavior when they called me on this.
And I apologize most of all to family and friends who’ve had to watch bemusedly as I made things much harder for myself than it ever did have to be.
Now the question becomes: are apologies enough? For myself or anyone else?
Probably not. Actions always speak louder than words.
Which means, actions from heretofore. “First day of the rest” and all that…
